SCHOLARSHIPS

NEMS ASU ALUMNI CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

 

Purpose


It is the organization’s purpose to provide a supplementary scholarship of $1000.00 to
help pay qualified educational expenses of graduating seniors who will be attending
Alcorn State University.


Note: Qualified education expenses include tuition and fees; and course-related expenses
such as books, supplies, and equipment. Room and board, travel, research, clerical help,
and non-required equipment are not qualified education expenses.


Requirements for eligibility
· U. S. citizen
· Applicant must be a graduating senior or high school equivalency from a local
area high school(s)
· GPA 2.5 or above
Selection Criteria
· GPA 2.5 or above
· Has met entry-level requirements and has been accepted to Alcorn State
University.

Kelzie Odea Davis

Hometown:  Tupelo, MS

2015 Graduate Tupelo High School

Granddaughter of

Calvin "Fred" Davis Class of '65 Inductee ASU Sport Hall of Fame Sept. 2000

Major:  Animal Science

 

Former 2016 - 2017 Scholarship Recipient

 

Career goal:  To become a Veternarian

 

About Alcorn: "I love my dad's university!"

 

Iris Rose Lee

Hometown: New Albany, MS

Major:  Nursing

(Iris has applied to transfer to the ASU Nursing School in Natchez MS .)

UNVERSITY SCHOLARSHIPS

Full Academic   

Full scholarships are awarded to enrolling Freshmen with a composite score of 24 or above  on the ACT or its equivalence on the SAT and a 3.00 or better High School Cumulative Grade Point Average on a 4.00 scale.  This scholarship is renewable each year provided the student maintains a 3.50 or above Cumulative Grade Point Average.  This scholarship covers room, board, tuition and fees, and a $350.00 book allowance.  The recipient of this scholarship must be a first time freshman.

Zambrian Johnson

Major:  Nursing

Partial Academic 

Partial scholarships are awarded to students with 22 or 23 on the ACT or its equivalence on the SAT and a 3.00 or better High School Grade Point Average on a 4.00 scale.  This scholarship covers tuition and fees and also provides an additional $150.00 for books.  This scholarship is renewable provided the student maintains a 3.00 or above Cumulative Grade Point Average.  The recipient of this scholarship must be a first time freshman.

 

Valedictorian 

Valedictorians will receive a full academic scholarship per academic year.  This scholarship provides an additional $200.00 for books.  This scholarship is renewable each year provided the student maintains a 3.00 or above Cumulative Grade Point Average.  The recipient of this scholarship must be a first time freshman.

Salutatorian 

Salutatorians will receive a partial academic scholarship per academic year.  This scholarship provides an additional $150.00 for books.  This scholarship is renewable each year provided the student maintains a 3.00 or above Cumulative Grade Point Average.  The recipient of this scholarship must be a first time freshman. 

Community College Transfer Graduates Scholarship/Aid Package

Qualified applicants may receive only one of the above scholarships.

  

The Full, Partial, Valedictorian and Salutatorian Scholarships are awarded to those qualified students who have never attended a Community College, College, University, Vocational-Technical College or any school beyond high school before entering Alcorn State University.
