Band Grants are available to talented students and are based on audition results and specific needs of the band. They may be partial or full. Contact the department or the Director of Bands for additional information.
Scholarship support and band grants are reviewed at the end of the spring semester. Renewal of financial aid is based on availability of funding and student performance, i.e. making satisfactory progress towards completing degree requirements, having no infractions, good standing with the university, and participating in departmental activities, particularly rehearsals and performances.
Leading the way: Alcorn’s School of Education and Psychology first to earn CAEP accreditation
Alcorn State University’s School of Education and Psychology received initial accreditation for seven years from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The School of Education and Psychology received the great news Nov. 20, 2015. With this distinction, Alcorn is the first Historically Black College and University (HBCU) and the only institution of higher learning in the state of Mississippi to be accredited by CAEP.
“Alcorn State University is proud of the quality of its educational leaders who facilitate learning in America’s classrooms,” President Alfred Rankins Jr. said. “We are pleased that our legacy now includes this prominent recognition.”
-With more than 140 years of excellence in education, Alcorn State University long has been renowned among historically black colleges and universities. Under the leadership of President Alfred Rankins Jr., we are reaching for our next goal: to be lauded not just as a great HBCU, but as a great university.
With your help, we can achieve that goal. With the support of alumni and friends like you, we can build the strongest academic programs and make them available to the best and brightest students
